Ultra-Rare Factory RHD · 1 of 51 Worldwide · One Owner · Full Main-Dealer History

The Car

This 1999 Mercedes-Benz G500 is an exceptionally rare factory right-hand-drive example — one of just 51 produced worldwide, and among the very best surviving cars in the UK.

Supplied new to a single owner, this G500 has been cherished from day one and presents in outstanding condition throughout. In the late 1990s, right-hand-drive W463 G-Wagens were almost unobtainable. After months of searching, the owner contacted Stuttgart directly and was informed that a single demonstrator was in use at Mercedes-Benz Gerard Mann Ltd, Birmingham. The car was purchased through the dealer and delivered new to Mercedes-Benz Glasgow, as the owner was then residing in the Scottish Highlands. Subsequent ownership saw the car move to London, where it continued to be maintained exclusively within the Mercedes-Benz main-dealer network, most notably at Mercedes-Benz Chelsea.

Between 1997 and 2000, only around 450 W463 G500s were built in total, making this generation one of the rarest G-Class variants. Of those, just 51 were produced in right-hand drive, before the model was discontinued in RHD until its return in 2010 (with the sole interim exception of AMG-converted G55s from 2004). This places the car firmly in collector territory.

Condition & Provenance

The car benefits from a complete Mercedes-Benz main-dealer service history, supported by every invoice and receipt from new. Included with the vehicle are the original manuals, factory build sheet, and comprehensive documentation — a level of provenance rarely seen.

Finished in Blue Metallic over full Grey Nappa leather, the interior remains superbly preserved, complemented by original V8-branded floor mats. The overall presentation reflects careful ownership with no expense spared, something that is immediately evident upon inspection.

Summary

This is a blue-chip G-Class: a factory RHD G500, one-owner from new, impeccably maintained, fully documented, and produced in extremely limited numbers. It combines old-school Mercedes-Benz engineering, naturally aspirated V8 power, and genuine rarity — a specification that modern G-Class models simply cannot replicate.

Viewing is strongly recommended.
A true collector-grade example and very possibly the finest RHD G500 available today.
